"The Eight Immortals" captures Suzhou's cultural essence through a still-life photo series featuring eight unique vegetables. Lotuses, water caltrops, Euryale ferox seeds, arrowheads, water bamboos, water chestnuts, water shields, and water celery are transformed into sculptural art, paying homage to a legend of heavenly beings planting them for protection. Beyond culinary use, these vegetables symbolize cultural history and generations of cultivation. The project celebrates the labor-intensive process, honoring their role in nourishing Suzhou and preserving traditions. Bridging past and present, images highlight nature's abundance, water's significance, and enduring vegetable value. "The Eight Immortals" harmonizes ancient wisdom with modern creativity, ensuring these vegetables' continued significance for generations.
